How did you get your hours for school? • I originally started out volunteering in an operating room and lab at Anna Jaques Hospital while I was still in undergrad. Once I graduated I started working as an Operating Room Technician for about a year, then left to gain more hands on patient care experience as an Inpatient Rehab Assistant at a long term acute care facility for a little over 3 years. Through the operating room and rehab, I was able to network with a lot of PAs in order to set up shadowing hours across a lot of different fields. When I wasn’t working I tried to get involved with a lot of volunteering and community work with the American Cancer Society, Brookhaven Hospice, and American Red Cross, where I taught CPR to the community.
What was the toughest thing to get used to in PA school? • I think the toughest thing to get use to was the balance of school, family, friends, and studying. You really have to be proactive and productive each day and not let the course work overwhelm you.
What do you do outside of studying to keep yourself sane during the semester? • Outside of the classroom I love to be outside whether I’m hiking, fly-fishing, golfing or at the beach. I think its important to take advantage of the environment New England offers us and to get outside when I get a break from studying.
What's your favorite thing about New Hampshire? • My favorite thing about New Hampshire is its location to the coast and the mountains. It offers a great central point to a variety of activities, that can suit any interests.
